The Chouf Cedars Society and the Chouf Rotary Club celebrated Friday the setting up of signs inside and outside the reserve, at the Nature Center in Ain Zahalta.
The ceremony was attended by the governor of the Rotary Club, Munir Thabet, as well as several mayors, mukhtars, members of the Chouf Cedars Society and national library director Ghazi Saab.
Walid Hassan, the reserve's assistant manager, thanked the Rotary Club for donating the signs, and said that a partnership with the people and institutions was essential to implementing the project.
The head of the Chouf Rotary Club, Rima Qadi, said the club had donated 148 signs with the hope that the project would improve the quality of the environment. Qadi also stressed the need to protect nature and maintain environmental equilibrium throughout the reserve.
Nizar Hani the scientific coordinator of the Reserve presented by power point show the technical details about the project and the objectives to implementing this kind of project plus an introduction about the rich biodiversity and the main programs in the reserve.
The project includes 4 different kinds of signs:
Orientation signs (on the high way and the roads that arrive to the reserve), Communication rules with signs (on the Reserve’s entrances), Identification signs (on the trails inside the reserve), Information board (on the reserve’s entrances), Case study signs (Entrances, Centers, Schools, universities, public places, etc.)
