POSITION: Project Assistant

Job Description:
• Work collaboratively with the project coordinator and team in the project management processes
• Undertake all needed support and follow up for administrative actions as needed;
• Organize and participate in stakeholder meetings;
• Prepare necessary presentation materials and logistics for meetings;
• Maintain contact with stakeholders/beneficiaries through phone calls, emails or text messaging;
• Help the project coordinator to organize and monitor schedules and see that deadlines are met;

Role description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The purpose of a professional communications specialist is to design the communications strategy for a project aiming to reduce the organic waste in three villages (Ehmej, Kfarmashoun in Jbeil and Batloun in Chouf).

so that communication is efficient during project implementation.

The responsibility of the communication specialist will set the guidelines for the following areas:
a. production of training, educational and communicational materials
b. production of a guide for solid waste reduction criteria
c. production a documentary and TV spot including animation
d. proposing dissemination channels ( Social Media, TV’s and other)

Project in brief

The ‘Less to Throw more to Sow” project is led by Al Shouf Cedar Society under the guidance and expertise of the technical consulting firm, namely Management of Resources and Environmental Solutions (MORES), and in collaboration with Ehmej Association for Development and Al Hourouf Organization. This project is implemented in three target areas Batloun,Ehmej, and Kfarmas’houn.

Al Shouf Cedar Society (ACS) will implement an advocacy project that falls under the environmental protection network. The project aims are:

1) raising awareness of the negative impact of current SWM practices and promoting waste reduction techniques

2) reducing organic waste in target communities through waste reduction initiatives such as backyard composting and the use of doggy bags in food outlets

The activities to be achieved with this project include:

  1. creating database for stakeholders
  2. holding inception workshops
  3. producing training materials
  4. forming advisory committees
  5. conducting trainings on backyard composting and “doggy bag” concept
  6. sampling and categorizing waste
  7. conducting awareness campaign on waste management practices and sorting
  8. including social media and TV infomercials
  9. producing a guidebook for solid waste reduction criteria
  10. implementing six pilot composting units
